What is the Sandwich Generation?

Someone raising their own family while caring for older loved ones.

And no, I didn't make it up. 🙂

Why this community?

Because it is needed.

There are not a lot of resources designated to those that are in this season of life.

Caring for those that cared for you, while raising your own children is a lot.

But, it can leave you feeling isolated.

I have been a Sandwich Generationer for over a decade.

Raising my own kiddo while caring for my parents.

What is a "Sandwich Generationer"?

We needed a name!

A Sandwich In Betweener is what I call someone who is raising their own kid/kids while caring for older loved ones.

How do you define kids or older loved ones?

Families come in all shapes & sizes! And all are welcome!

I have always told my kiddo that families come in different shapes & sizes.

Are you a human raising a human? While also caring for another human?

Then this group is for you!

Why should you join?

Isolation lies.

Even though the stats say that 1 in 4 Americans fall into the Sandwich Generation, it can be an isolating experience.

As I found other Sandwich Generationers, I found out that I wasn't the only one that didn't know anyone else going through this journey.

And to borrow @Lbee Health's tagline - Isolation Lies.

How do you define "caring for an older loved one"?

All are welcome!

Each family tackle caring for older loved ones differently. Checking in on them daily? Fielding doctor appointments? Keeping up with medicines? Hiring help to help with the different tasks?

Everyone in the same house? Different houses? Assisted living? Hospice?

These are just some of the different ways you may be taking care of your older loved one.

We are inclusive and welcome all!
